A man with a beard who was caught on camera celebrating in the chaos after Charlie Kirk\u2019s assassination has come forward and said that people misunderstood what he did.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Viral Clip Sparks Anger<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Video of the tragedy at Utah Valley University on Wednesday quickly spread online. It showed a man in a T-shirt and baseball cap raising his arms and cheering afterward. He later said that he was yelling \u201cUSA! USA!\u201d to get people\u2019s attention. Viewers called the scene strange and heartless, saying he was happy about Kirk\u2019s death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The clip, which got millions of views on X, became one of the most shared pictures of what happened after.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI Wasn\u2019t Celebrating\u201d<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

A man who calls himself David now says he was the one in the video and says he wasn\u2019t cheering. Instead, he says he was trying to calm the fear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

David said in a two-minute video on X, \u201cWhen I heard a loud crack, I thought it might have been fireworks or a prank that went wrong.\u201d \u201cI knew it had to be a gun when none showed up.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He thought Kirk had been seriously hurt because of how his friend acted. After checking on the security team\u2019s movements without thinking, he remembered saying, \u201cI stood and shouted \u2018USA,\u2019 not to provoke them, but to show strength, encourage others, and make a distraction that might help calm panic or even save lives.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Messages that don\u2019t make sense<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

David made it clear that he \u201cis not overly familiar with Charlie Kirk\u2019s content\u201d and \u201cwould never wish to celebrate harm to anyone.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But in a later clip, he spoke in a more mysterious way, saying, \u201cMy soldiers, including Charlie, are dying so you guys can make fun of each other.\u201d He also called himself \u201cthe happiest person you ever met in your entire life.\u201d He didn\u2019t say who he meant by \u201cmy soldiers.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Country Still in Shock<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

During a student debate, Kirk, 31, was shot and died after being hit in the neck. People from all political parties have condemned his murder, and President Donald Trump called him \u201cThe Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tyler Robinson, 22, was arrested and charged with aggravated murder after a days-long manhunt. Authorities said that his own father turned him in after seeing pictures of him from the FBI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
