The operation began at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday<\/strong> and did not end until sunset the next day. Dr. Chen Jianping<\/strong>, one of the lead surgeons, explained that the patient suffered from both an aneurysm and a brain-stem hemangioblastoma<\/strong>, two serious and life-threatening conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Even the patient\u2019s family was anxious. \u201cThe surgery went on for so long, I started to worry about the doctors\u2019 physical strength. What if they wear out?\u201d said Huang Baoqin, a family member.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Success and a Collapse From Exhaustion<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

When the surgery finally ended successfully, the three surgeons walked out, then collapsed on the ground from exhaustion. A photo of them lying side by side quickly went viral across Chinese social media platforms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some netizens commented that the surgeons were \u201ctrading their own lives for the patient\u2019s.\u201d But Dr. Chen says scenes like this aren\u2019t unusual in the medical world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
