If we send our kids to school, we are \u2018selfish.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n
If we keep them home, we\u2019re \u2018living in fear.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We know our choice will not please everyone\u2014but we\u2019re trying not to care and instead just focus on what\u2019s best for our kid\u2026BUT we\u2019re not even sure what that is because we\u2019re just sooo conflicted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We\u2019ve been trying to enjoy this extra time with our kids, but our newest thief of joy is uncertainty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We\u2019re offered strong opinions from others not even in our position.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And if we\u2019re honest, we\u2019re over it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Some of us have already decided. For some, it was decided for us, and some, like me, are sitting right smack dab in the middle of indecision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The reality is, some families will be giving up income and financial stability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Some will go to work, whether by choice or mere necessity and will still be judged harshly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Some parents will try to balance full-time work from home and distance learning, which seems almost impossible to me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Many have, and will, shed tears and mourn plans when no one is looking, and then pull it together just as quickly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There\u2019s a decision to be made, but there\u2019s no \u2018right\u2019 one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
My kids won\u2019t hear the complaint when I push my career aside.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The work-outside-the-home mom\u2019s kids likely won\u2019t see the weight she\u2019s carrying.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The work-from-home dad won\u2019t let anyone know the pressure he\u2019s under.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We KNOW we would do ANYTHING for our kids, no matter the sacrifice, but we did not sign up for THIS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
No one did.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
So, if you hear a parent voice their choice that\u2019s different than yours, please do not make them feel worse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
