Have you ever had a conversation and wondered how the world was ever going to survive? I think that\u2019s how many people feel after hearing a conversation between a woman and a Walmart employee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This conversation went in the wrong direction very quickly. I\u2019m sure that the Walmart employee had all the best intentions when she was trying to save money or perhaps the environment, but it was misguided, to say the least.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can read the conversation in the following story but be warned, it may just make you lose faith in our ability to exist as a species for any length of time in the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So I am at Walmart scanning and bagging my almost $300 worth of groceries while the employee that earns $15 an hour \u201cmonitors\u201d and then this happened.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her \u2013 why are you double bagging all of your groceries?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Me \u2013 excuse me?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her \u2013 you are wasting our bags!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Me \u2013 if you don\u2019t like the way I\u2019m bagging the groceries, feel free to come on over here and bag them yourself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her \u2013 that\u2019s not my job!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Me \u2013 okay, then I will bag my groceries how I please if that\u2019s all right with you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her \u2013 why are you using two bags?!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Me \u2013 because the bags are weak and I don\u2019t want the handles to break or the bottoms to rip out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her \u2013 well that\u2019s because you are putting too much stuff in the bag. If you took half of that stuff out and put it in a different bag then you wouldn\u2019t need to double bag.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

*10 seconds of me just staring at her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Me \u2013 so you want me to split these items in half and put half of them in a different bag so that I don\u2019t have to double bag.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her \u2013 exactly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Me \u2013 so I would still be using two bags to hold the same number of items.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her \u2013 no because you wouldn\u2019t be double bagging.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

*me pressing two fingers to my left eye in an attempt to make it stop twitching.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Me \u2013 okay so here I have a jug of milk and a bottle of juice double bagged. If I take the milk out and remove the double bagging and just put the milk in the single bag and the juice in that single bag I\u2019m still using two bags for these two items.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her- no because you are not double bagging them so it\u2019s not the same number of bags.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

*me looking around at about 10 other customers who at this point are enjoying the show.<\/ins><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Me- is this like that Common Core math stuff I keep hearing about?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
