Especially after giving birth, when&nbsp;life seems to expect them to take care of their newborn, get their body back, return to work and&nbsp;keep a clean house&nbsp;all at the same time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s a question that had completely overwhelmed Monica Murphy, only one month into&nbsp;welcoming her third child, while still&nbsp;recovering from a C-section&nbsp;and taking care of her other children, who were also nursing, according to&nbsp;Today.com. Luckily for Murphy, her mom had the perfect piece of advice to&nbsp;ease her troubled mind. And luckily for us, it was all caught on the family\u2019s&nbsp;doorbell cam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.upworthy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/05\/Overwhelmed-new-mother.png?w=1024\" alt=\"\" style=\"aspect-ratio:1.499267935578331;width:1024px;height:auto\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a now-viral Instagram post, Murphy wrote her formidable to-do list, which included:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Working<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Staying present on social media<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Maintaining a clean home<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Tandem breastfeeding<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Being present with my kids<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Eating a nutritious diet<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Making time for my husband<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Keeping in touch with friends<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Making time for myself<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Planning activities for kids<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Frick decorate for Christmas<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Followed by that burning question: \u201cHow on earth can one person do it all?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Of course, Murphy hadn\u2019t expressed any of these stresses to her mom, who had been visiting. But still, her mom knew something heavily weighed on her daughter\u2019s mind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Her mom\u2019s simple words cut through the chaos<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So, as she was walking out, Murphy\u2019s mom left her with these&nbsp;words of wisdom:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThey aren\u2019t gonna remember a clean house, they are gonna remember how much you loved them and hung out with them.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Murphy told&nbsp;Today.com&nbsp;that she \u201cbroke down\u201d crying after her mom had left, and was instantly inspired to share the video for other moms who needed similar encouragement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Indeed, the message struck an emotional chord with thousands of viewers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Internet responds with empathy and heartbreak<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe way I would\u2019ve just bawled if she said that to me,\u201d one person commented.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Another added, \u201cI needed to hear this today.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some shared how it was a sentiment they sadly would never hear from their own mothers, and how they are now re-parenting themselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cMy mom would just nag I\u2019m lazy and how am I supposed to leave my house a mess. So I\u2019m just easing my anxiety with gentle words from other people\u2019s mothers. As I\u2019ve been doing my whole life. Clean house was above happy children,\u201d one person wrote.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What this moment says about all of us<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It can be so easy for moms to lose themselves in the never ending cycle of responsibilities and, frankly,\u00a0unrealistic societal expectations. But hopefully this sweet message can help moms everywhere go a bit easier on themselves, and actually enjoy the time they have with their kids.
