\u201cI\u2019m not changing my sheets every week. I\u2019m single and I\u2019m clean. And so are the dogs.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shannon Nelson, better known by her online alias Pinky Nel,<\/a> describes herself as a \u201cBoomer grandma<\/a> with an edge.\u201d She also notes in her online bio that she\u2019s \u201cbig on family, friends, dogs<\/a> and golf.\u201d She makes a lot of content wherein nothing is off the table: ex-relationships, private parts, grandkids, being single, and hormone therapy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now that she\u2019s 70, she has decided that there are things she no longer feels obligated to do<\/a>. In fact, there are a few lists she has made detailing those things and many people feel totally seen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her first list had people losing it<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In the first clip, she writes, \u201cOne of the many benefits of getting older<\/a> is that your \u201cTo Do\u201d list changes into a \u201cNot To Do\u201d list<\/a>. Here\u2019s mine:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI will no longer get a bikini wax. It\u2019s barbaric. It\u2019s inhumane. Not suitable for 70-year-old skin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019m not wearing thong underwear. Or brassieres with wire in them. Or high heels\u2026 for obvious reasons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I gave up on coloring my hair.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I don\u2019t drive at night. And while we\u2019re at it, I\u2019m not doing THIS anymore. (She then gives a hilarious X-rated gesture with her hand) and proceeds, \u201cI mean I am single and not dating, so chances of anybody expecting me to do that are pretty slim.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019m not going anywhere without a parking lot. I\u2019m not gonna drive around for 20 minutes hoping somebody\u2019s gonna leave. Forget it!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I am no longer watching gory or depressing movies. I just can\u2019t handle it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019m not going to dinner at anyone\u2019s house where my dog isn\u2019t welcome. Or after 5:30. Make that 5:00!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also, I\u2019m no longer gonna hold in my gas. It\u2019s not healthy. Also, I\u2019m not gonna force my gas. It\u2019s been a good party trick with the grandkids. It\u2019s not safe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally? I am done with small talk. I\u2019m also done with mansplaining. And I will no longer accept golf tips from a guy who\u2019s lousier than I am at the driving range.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her followers had plenty to add<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

She then asks her followers to \u201cadd anything to the list\u201d and they sure do. There are over 114,000 likes on this clip alone and over 4,000 incredibly relatable comments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One Instagrammer writes, \u201cI\u2019m not apologizing for canceling plans if I don\u2019t really want to go<\/a>. I\u2019m not letting unsolicited advice mess with my head. I\u2019m no longer afraid of saying no.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another semi-jokingly adds, \u201cI will no longer do anything I don\u2019t enjoy doing, except maybe take a shower every now and then.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And it\u2019s not just the senior citizens who feel seen<\/a>. \u201cI\u2019m 37 and have already given up all of this but the driving-related items.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then she came back with more<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This video was so popular, Nelson made another.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In part two, she stands in her kitchen holding a cup of coffee and adds, \u201cHere are a few additions to my \u2018not to do\u2019 list now that I\u2019m almost 70<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019ve stopped saving for a rainy day. I\u2019m not saving the \u2018good China.\u2019 Or the candles or my money. It\u2019s already raining. In fact, it\u2019s pouring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019m no longer going to say that I read books. That\u2019s a lie. I listen to books. Ya know, the talking books. I don\u2019t care if that makes me sound dumb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And I\u2019m putting an end to eating hot dogs without the bun. I don\u2019t care about the calories. Or the carbs! Wieners are just far better when there\u2019s buns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019m not ever going to say \u2018I\u2019m circling back.\u2019 I\u2019ve never even \u2018circled forward!\u2019 And forget about \u2018jumping on a call.\u2019 I\u2019m 70. I don\u2019t jump anymore. In fact, I\u2019m not taking calls period. You can text me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019m not changing my sheets every week. I\u2019m single. And I\u2019m clean. And so are the dogs.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here, we see a shot of her two yellow dogs wagging their tails on the bed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAnd finally, I\u2019m not saving \u2018I love you\u2019 for special occasions. I say it every day. To my family, to my friends, to the dogs. Hell, I\u2019ve even said it to my golf clubs. And I meant it. And if you\u2019ve hung in this far, I probably love you too.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Again, the comments are totally supportive, some even from people a decade older. \u201cI\u2019m working towards 80,\u201d one said, \u201cI love you. I don\u2019t wear makeup anymore unless I\u2019m going to church. I don\u2019t wear a bra unless I\u2019m going out and that\u2019s not very often. Growing old is wonderful. And oh by the way I change my sheets once a month. I\u2019m clean. And I\u2019m single so nobody cares.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And then she went for round three<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Once again, Nelson comes back for round three. This time, she writes in the comment section, \u201cGetting older comes with one gift: the freedom to stop doing sh*t you don\u2019t care about<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This list includes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYou can put away the rubber gloves and the Vaseline, doc. I am no longer subjecting myself to a routine pap smear or rectal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019m not checking on how I look from behind before I go out. If I can\u2019t see the problem? It\u2019s not a problem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019m not brushing the dog\u2019s teeth. Or paying a thousand bucks to have them professionally cleaned. She\u2019s a dog! (She gently lifts up one of her pup\u2019s lips.) Look how nice they are!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And forget about changing my bed sheets every week. I\u2019ll just switch sides! Flip the pillow over.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And no more hanging onto things I can no longer wear anymore. Even though they are so beautiful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And finally, no more wincing when I see myself in the mirror. So I look my age! Aren\u2019t I supposed to?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The list that keeps on growing<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

What makes Nelson\u2019s lists resonate so deeply isn\u2019t just the humor, it\u2019s the permission. The permission to stop pretending. To stop performing comfort you don\u2019t feel, enthusiasm you\u2019ve run out of, and tolerance for things that were never worth tolerating in the first place. At 70, she\u2019s not complaining<\/a>. She\u2019s just done. And apparently, so are a lot of people who aren\u2019t anywhere near 70 yet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
